My name is Mike. I live in a beautiful Los Angeles, California. I have 2012 freight liner sprinter, 2,500 tall roof.

Shaun Savage:

What do you do for fun? Do you have any hobbies?

Mike:

Just start again. Cracking on making a video game.

Shaun Savage:

What kind of video game are you making?

Mike:

It’s an adventure game.

Shaun Savage:

Awesome. You’ll have to keep us posted on that. I want to check it out once it’s ready. We have a lot of software engineers on our team that are big gamers and so I’m sure they’ll be happy to be one of your early testers.

Mike:

Nice. Sounds good.

Shaun Savage:

What do you like about being a delivery professional?

Mike:

I just really enjoy being on the road in general and working with people and making deliveries. Los Angeles is a big place and a great way to explore it is to make deliveries all over Metro Los Angeles, all over California. I’ve been around the United States quite a bit making deliveries and I love to see the country and it’s great to make some money while I’m at it.

Shaun Savage:

For someone who likes to be on the road and travel and meet people, yeah, this is a great opportunity. What would you tell someone who is thinking about working with Go Share?

Mike:

Just make sure that this is actually what you would like to be doing and it’s not going to be a surprise when you have to be there on time and it’s taking something heavy upstairs.

Shaun Savage:

Yeah, that’s great advice. Thank you. Yeah, punctuality is obviously super important. This type of work is not for everybody per se, but it can be really enjoyable for the right people and I think it’s important that you enjoy what you do. It makes the days go by a lot faster and smoother. Any memorable GoShare experiences or customers that are worth mentioning?

Mike:

Long distance jobs. Going up to San Francisco, delivering some telescope equipment was nice. Moving pallets. Sound to San Diego is nice. I like those long distance jobs, but the local ones are fine too, of course.

Shaun Savage:

Yeah, I would say there’s a pretty good mix, especially in California of local short distance last mile work and plus some more long distance regional runs, so yeah. It’s good that you’ve had experience with both. You’ve had enough experience on your belt using the app and interacting with customers and things like that. What are some areas where you think GoShare can improve to make it better for delivery professionals like yourself and others?

Mike:

One feature that I’d like to see would be to be able to change your live location. For example, if I have a job taking me down to San Diego and I’m already in San Diego and then I’m getting offers for a job starting right now back in Los Angeles, well, I can’t accept them because I’m not there, but if I could change my location, hang out in San Diego for a couple hours and see if I hit anything before I come back up to la, that would be nice.

Shaun Savage:

If you know you’re heading to San Diego using that as an example, feel free to reach out to our customer support team. They can at least temporarily turn you on in those markets so that over the course of your drive time, if there’s anything new that comes in, you will know about it. I see.

Mike:

That’s good to know. I didn’t know that that was even possible to reach out to the support and have them do it

Shaun Savage:

My name is Matt Schultz. I work for OneRail on Demand Technologies, Inc. as the parent company. I am the Vice President of Logistics Partnerships, and what that means is I direct our team with finding, onboarding, and managing all of our courier partners throughout the system.

Shaun Savage:

What OneRail can offer is unique and separate, but in the same sport essentially is what GoShare is doing. Yeah, so I think the partnership has been really good so far from our perspective and really interesting and unique, what you guys bring to the table.

Thank you for being a GoShare customer and a great partner. I know you meet with our team routinely, probably on a daily basis almost, and so you’ve gotten to know us. Can you talk about why you chose GoShare or what was interesting about GoShare to you?

Matt Schultz:

We were getting into larger deliveries at that time and we were looking for partners that could handle that, that could actually handle the larger deliveries. And across the board, didn’t even know at the time that GoShare actually did have sedans and pickup trucks and just smaller vehicles. I was more focused on a big and bulky. That’s what we were focused on at the time, and that’s how the relationship started from our standpoint.

Shaun Savage:

Yeah, and I think that that really was where GoShare got its start, was in truly on demand deliveries for large vehicles. Cargo vans, box trucks are not easy to come by necessarily and especially on short notice. But in today’s world that we live in, consumers and businesses expect on demand delivery.

Matt Schultz:

Exactly.

Shaun Savage:

… delivery all the time, and you have to be able to get a box truck or a cargo van or a pickup truck or otherwise quickly.

Can you talk about what is it that you like about GoShare, now that you’ve been working with us for over a year. What have you found that you like about it?

Matt Schultz:

Dependability. Right. I mean, that’s the easy. But I think that what I really like about GoShare and who I deal with on a day-to-day basis and every two week basis with your company is the engagement. I mean, you’re actually engaged. It’s not just, we’re sending you orders and you do them and we don’t have any discussions about them.

Between Christian and Tucker and even Sean, these guys are just truly engaged in our relationship, our partnership, and what’s going on on a day-to-day basis. So much so that they take everything that have, they take it in stride, whether it’s good, whether it’s bad. You think of a box truck as just, hey, yeah, a lot of customers think box trucks are just like Uber. They’re just available, just sitting around, nothing to do.

But we know, you know, the box truck drivers have to work. They’ve got to be on the road, they’ve got a schedule for the day. They’re not just sitting around waiting. I mean, yes, they could be every now and again, but that’s not what they do. This isn’t an Uber driver. It’s not a gig economy driver.

So when we have things that have to get done right now and it’s just not moving the way we want it to move, we can always count on GoShare right at that minute. “Hey, we have this order. It’s cycling right now. Can you see if you’ve got somebody available?” And nine times out of 10, Sean’s finding, or even Tucker, when Tucker has to fill in there, they’re finding somebody to do it.

Shaun Savage:

Yeah.

Matt Schultz:

It’s amazing. They’re working hard to make the partnership as best it can be. That’s what I truly enjoy the best.

Shaun Savage:

Yeah, that communication is super important, and great to hear that you’ve had a good experience dealing with the whole team so far.

Matt Schultz:

Right.

Shaun Savage:

You mentioned three of them, and not to mention the countless people behind the scenes too that are making it happen.

Matt Schultz:

Right.

Shaun Savage:

Making sure all the orders get picked up quickly, and if anything needs to be fixed, it gets fixed pretty fast. And these types of partnerships and integrations aren’t necessarily easy.

Matt Schultz:

They’re not.

Shaun Savage:

It’s not like, yeah, you just connect and it’s done. It requires effort to integrate a delivery API

Matt Schultz:

It does require effort.

Shaun Savage:

Their job is to make sure that our partners have a good experience every time, and that you get what you need from us and you get it quickly. It’s an on demand world, it’s an on demand business, and things have to happen pretty quickly.

Matt Schultz:

For me personally, a lot is counted on. Obviously, our platform is visibility, and we’re SaaS based and we’re selling that to our customers. But our team’s job is to find the best of the best who can get orders delivered in a timely fashion.

So when we have these situations where we’ve got these especially big and bulky, and they can get done with the SLA actually being met sometimes within even two hours, which for a sedan, great. If they can’t do it in two hours, we failed. But for box truck, that’s a pretty tall task. And for that stuff to get done, that’s what makes our life easier, that we can count on GoShare, especially in all the major markets that you’re in. When we call on them, they’re there and we can depend on them to get the job done when we need it done.

“My experience with GoShare has been positive. I’ve used them a handful of times and each experience has been good. For example, a dining set for 6, awkwardly packed, a patio set bought on Craig’s List, furniture purchased at an estate sale…. Things that I couldn’t remotely get in my car, nor manage without muscled and creative loading help. The challenge for me is estimating the vehicle-size needed, and the weights of items. But shortly after entering the parameters on the app, the driver calls and there’s opportunity to explain what’s needed. The drivers are friendly and helpful. I suggest good communication to calculate cost to minimize unpleasant surprises. Keep in mind the calculated cost, is still an estimate. I further suggest ensuring the driver knows pick-up details and delivery requirements. They are not professional movers just like Uber/Lyft drivers are not professional drivers. It’s unfair to equate GoShare to Professional movers. If cost is a concern, I suggest comparison shopping before the delivery is required. Compare competitor cost, and lead time. I have hired movers for small jobs and those that will take small jobs, may charge a fee for showing up before the work is started, or have a minimum cost. The GoShare drivers have carried items in to where I wanted them. I’m unsure if this is their practice or if I got lucky. Again, it’s good to indicate your expectations to anyone who moves your things. I suggest you plan to either help the drivers load/unload at both ends or tell them in advance if multiple people will be needed to lift and load items in and out of a truck bed, or if a dolly would be helpful. It’s often not the weight but the awkwardness of things. Hiring movers or renting a truck for a single purchase/item can be expensive and a hassle. Go Share is convenient, reliably available, doesn’t hassle your friends who happen to own trucks, and cost-effective in my experience even after a gratuity. I would not consider GoShare for a big job, although maybe. But for those pallets of impulse purchases at Costco or Home Depot, or that unplanned purchase at an auction… I would, and have, recommended GoShare to others who like me, wish we had access to trucks a few times a year.”

-The first time I was going to buy this couch… .. just happen to be the day Big Lots had sent out a message to the stores that they no longer had a delivery service… that they had just fired the existing company and were trying to find a replacement.  Hearing how bad their old service had been when I came back a second time to buy the couch I was considering not using the new service “goshare” but instead rent a pickup truck from uhaul & do it myself.  But I’m glad that I did.  So this is my first time using your/this type of independent contracted out type of service.  Since the Sales Representative at Big Lots was familiar with your site she went on my phone & entered the necessary information in seconds.  I bought the couch at 1pm and I hesitated at her putting 2pm as a pick up time.  But she said there were drivers in our local area & whoever finished their current delivery first would let me know that it had been assigned & keep me informed as to the status of my pickup through the phone application.  She said I should hear within 15 minutes to half hour that my request had been assigned & give names of drivers.
So I was a little surprised when I didn’t hear anything that first hour, the second hour   LOL…. but it all worked out.  The driver apologized for the misunderstanding.  And explained that he was coming from San Diego & what would be a good delivery time…. I told him there was no reason for him to spend an hour or more sitting on the freeway in stop and go 5pm traffic on a Friday night.  I appreciated that he was flexible so it worked out for both of us that I could run my errands and he would come up from San Diego later that evening after traffic had died down.  It worked out great!  I was very happy with the service and driver.  After he was done getting everything into the house, before leaving he was kind enough to ask if I would like assistance in removing the cardboard & plastic covering from the furniture.  five stars!  Thanx Again.

Most of my belongings are pretty small, and I thought I could move most of it in my own car (a sedan) with just a couple of trips. “An ‘Uber for furniture/big stuff deliveries’. I was thrilled when I found this on the App Store, and had the occasion to put the service to the test when I found my dream sectional on Craigslist. I set up my account on my phone while sitting in my car, which consists of putting in your pick up address, drop off address, name, phone, email and credit card number. You then select the size vehicle you need (it gives you a cost per minute for each vehicle type), and allows you to pick a backup vehicle type if the first type isn’t available. The app setup took all of five minutes it was so easy and streamlined. The sectional I bought was in the driveway of someone’s house and they weren’t even home, but the driver (Thomas), picked up the sectional and brought it to my house about 8 miles away without any problems. He was friendly, quick and professional, and I couldn’t have been happier. And the cost was on the nose what I was expecting to pay. I’m off to scour Craigslist some more now that I know how easy it will be to get the stuff home! Yippee! ”

Maria Hechanova: Instead of trying to convince your friends to help you move your stuff, there’s a new app that will connect you with people who will do it for you. I’m Maria Hechanova and I’ll show you how coming up.

Anchorman: Alright. It is the first of the month. A lot of things happen like moving and you ever wish you had a truck or needed a little help moving all those boxes. There’s a new app out there now. It’s available here in Arizona. It’s kind of similar to ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft, but instead of picking up people, drivers will pick up your stuff, your oversized stuff.

Anchorwoman: Maria Hechanova explains how the service works.

Maria: Need help moving large pieces of furniture like this chair, maybe a dining room table but can’t fit into your car. There’s an app to fix that. It’s not like renting a traditional box truck or van GoShare CEO Shaun Savage explains.

Shaun Savage: We don’t own any of the trucks or vans. So because of that it allows us to offer much lower prices.

Maria:  You’re basically paying someone to use their personal pickup truck to load, unload and drive your bulky items to anywhere in the valley. You’re not allowed to drive the truck or ride with your stuff, but you can’t get what you need delivered within the hour. We have our dolly’s. Dan Metzinger is a valley GoShare driver. He spends his days waiting for orders to come in on his phone.

Dan Metzinger: I’m walking away with $35 per load.

Maria: Most of the time he’s picking up items from furniture stores that can’t fit in people’s cars. Luckily he hasn’t had to deal with the damage to his truck or the items he’s carrying.

Dan: I’ve had people say, you know, I would never wanna help people move all day long. It’s good for me because it keeps me in shape and ultimately you know, it’s really not that difficult.

Maria: So how much will it cost for you to use the service? The base rate starts at 40 bucks and customers are charged per minute.

Phil: My name is Phil and I’m from Los Angeles, California. My current hobbies right now, I think I’m more of a video game type of guy. I have a truck and I’ve been trying to find a meaning to use it. I needed to find my niche and I found it with GoShare.

GoShare: What type of vehicle do you have?

Phil: My truck is just normal Ford Ranger. I’ve always been a car person my whole life. My father, he said I’m more fit in truck. Couple years ago, one of his best friends passed away and he left his truck, and my dad decided to give me his truck. Once I got my hands on the wheel and got to driving it and experiencing it, I finally understood why it’s nice to drive a truck. Truck yeah!

GoShare: What has been your experience working with GoShare?

Phil: Just delivered an ATM just not too long ago, not too far from here. I’ve moved everything from Costco, from the couches, multiple couches, like three of ‘em stacked high, to TVs and all that. I’ve been doing this moving thing for a while, a lot of customers.

GoShare: Why should customers use GoShare?

Phil: You can schedule your life and you don’t have to wait too long and most of us are good at communication. There are drivers available and there are drivers there to do what they have to do to help you out to move your stuff.

GoShare: What would you tell someone interested in joining GoShare?

Phil: GoShare gives me the freedom that I always wanted when it comes down to a job. I don’t have a schedule, I can plan, not only my day, but my life whenever a job decides to come in for my area. I can communicate with the customers right away and the layout is user-friendly on both ends, the customer as well as the driver. It really does make life a lot easier compared to other apps.

Roger: Hi my name is Roger. I have a 2014 F-150. Grew up in Vista. So North County, not too far from here, like 25 miles. I’m a huge baseball fan. A Dodger fan, that was the first game that my dad ever took me to so for whatever reason that stuck. A big Dallas Cowboys fan. We used to go to Sunday dinner at grandma’s house and back then, you know, there’s only two games on and one of them was always the Cowboys, so that’s where that came from.

GoShare: What has been your experience working with GoShare?

Roger: I had a really fantastic experience. There was a woman named Geraldine and she was moving out of her home. You know I did like two or three jobs for her and she was just the kindest woman. I felt amazing and privileged to help her out. I’ve done quite a few deliveries from Costco, you know big tvs, couches. Quite a few items from Pier 1 Imports. Furniture items, couches, tables, things like that.

GoShare: Why should customers use GoShare?

Roger: It’s quick and easy. You know you don’t have to go procure a vehicle from somewhere else. You don’t have to, you know, wait for the vendor to say, “Well we can deliver that, you know, 2 days from Friday” or something like that. You can just pick that time; “I’m gonna be home” and you could get that item delivered right away. So definitely that convenience aspect is probably I think the most important.

GoShare: What would you tell someone interested in joining GoShare?

Roger: The other drivers are great. You know, a bunch of great guys that I’ve worked with. Secondly, it offers people who need it the flexibility to really make a very decent income. But you know you don’t have to do that 9 to 5, you don’t have to do the 7 to 4, no commuting. So I mean, for me that actually helps me out immensely. Family is always number one for me and with four kids there’s a lot of activities and, you know, I went – being in an office environment missing a lot of that stuff, and I just didn’t like it. And thankfully, you know, the sharing economy has offered people opportunities that they didn’t have before and that flexibility is one of them and it’s fantastic. If you know you don’t wanna do the 9 to 5 anymore, you want to make a little extra money on the weekends, you’ve got your truck. It’s, you know, I love it. So I mean I would encourage any of my friends who wanted to do it, you know, give it a go if they wanted to.

Luis: My name is Luis. I like to you know, fix cars, build stuff, build trailers and stuff like that so that’s one of the hobbies I do.

GoShare: What kind of truck do you have?

Luis: I have a F-150 and it’s a four door crew. So this one is nice but I have, you know, goals to get another one.

GoShare: What has been your experience working with GoShare?

Luis: I remember a lady who wasn’t feeling that good and she had to, like, walk kind of far and her back was hurting. So you know, she was really grateful that, you know, that I was there helping her out. So she was really happy. Helping her out out, moving all the stuff, it was a lot of stuff for her but, you know, sometimes you need help. I like that you know, helping people out, making them, you know, they get what they want.

GoShare: Why should customers use GoShare?

Luis: You want to have some more flexibility? You want to make good money? Why not? It’s perfect. I get to do this and I have time around to be with my family, which is — family is, for me, the most important thing. My wife, my kids, that’s the reason why I come out there and do what I have to do, for them. And also the flexibility, like I said you know I go back to them, spend time, and then I say, “Hey if I want to take this job I’ll take it. If not, you know there’s no obligation.”

GoShare: What would you tell someone interested in joining GoShare?

Luis: It’s a really good price for people. They don’t have to go rent a truck, take it back, do the job by themselves, and sometimes they don’t even have the help that they need. So it’s perfect and instead of going through one of those maybe huge companies that charge you a whole bunch of money you get a good deal over here, so it’s fair.

Brent: Hi my name is Brent. I’ve been working for GoShare for a couple of months now and I’m having a really good experience. In my free time what I like to do is I like to spend some time at the beach, take a camping trip with my family. Or maybe do a little bit of hiking, some sightseeing. I don’t surf as much as I used to but I still go out on the good days.

GoShare: What kind of truck do you have?

Brent: I drive a Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. This is my 4th now, I’ve had a Nissan since I was old enough to drive.

GoShare: What has been your experience working with GoShare?
Brent: We often get jobs working with companies such as Ace Hardware with their barbecues or Costco with their mattresses and their large televisions and it’s so nice because those are always local jobs around those locations and so you get to get out into your community and deliver something that someone is buying, you know, brand new for the first time and they’re excited to get their item home and it’s you know feels good to take that item off the truck and help them move it into their house.

GoShare: Why should customers use GoShare?

Brent: I think customers should use GoShare when they need an extra hand moving something. They can not just get the satisfaction that it will be insured in moving, but they’ll have a couple people with some experience in moving things to help them. GoShare has probably the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. When customers need assistance on changing a time or scheduling a job or working out the coordination of the job the customer service has always been there. If there’s any difficulty anywhere down the line the customer service has always been good.

GoShare: What would you tell someone interested in joining GoShare?

Brent: If they are looking for some part-time work and you know, they have their phone and a truck or a cargo van as resource, to make use of those. It’s a simple and efficient process for signing on and becoming a driver and you can quickly, you know get on the road to earning some money and you’re a private contractor so you’re sort of working when you need to work. You will get jobs and you will, you know start generating some income.

Will: My Name is Will and I’m the Assistant Manager of Crown Ace Hardware in Liberty Station.

GoShare: Describe your business.

Will: Ace is a co-op system, which means that we’re a bunch of individually owned hardware stores that band together for collective buying power. Our company is Crown Hardware and we were started in 1949 in Huntington Beach, California.

GoShare: What did you do for delivery before GoShare?

Will: Using GoShare has actually been really great because previously we would actually have to go out and do our own deliveries. We would have to have our employees use their own vehicles. You know, it would be a cost for us because we would have to pay mileage on their car and then you know we’re paying them their regular hourly wage on top of that to be out delivering but they’re not physically, actually in the store helping our customers.

GoShare: Why do you love GoShare?

Will: So the best thing about using GoShare is that I’m able to just pull it up on my phone and call a car right then and there. I can have a customer get a delivery done in an hour or I can book it out a week in advance. It’s really nice to not have to send any employees out of the store. For me, that’s the biggest thing.

GoShare: Can you describe a typical GoShare experience?

Will: Once I submit the order, I don’t have to think about it anymore. There have been times where we scheduled a pickup at like 6 or 7 o’clock at night and the customer wants their grill right then and there and I’m like “Okay, I’ll get it done.” And it gets done

GoShare: What would you say to someone interested in working with GoShare?

Will: I would definitely advise other Ace franchises, or anybody really, to use GoShare because it’s great, it’s simple, it’s easy to use and everyone is super friendly. If you have a problem you can just call them up and it gets done.
