What Documents Do I Need to Sign Up For GoShare?

GoShare will need to verify a few documents in order to approve your application to join the GoShare platform. This post was created as a resource to help prospective delivery professionals identify and locate these documents. If you have already applied to GoShare, you can submit these documents by logging into your account.

What is Proof of Insurance and how do I find it?

Example of a Vehicle Insurance Card

When you purchase or renew an insurance policy, you will be provided with a small paper card that showed you have insurance on your vehicle (similar to the example above). It is sometimes referred to as an insurance identification card or a binder.

Proof of insurance will contain the following information:

  • Insured’s name and address
  • Vehicle year and make
  • Policy renewal dates
  • Insurance company name
  • Insurance company phone number

Please review your proof of insurance carefully before submitting to GoShare. Common mistakes we see include:

  • Policy term that is under 3 months
  • Applicant not listed as an insured driver
  • Insurance card is expired
  • Insurance card is for the wrong vehicle
  • Out-of-state insurance card (should be issued in the state you live in)
  • Submitted a receipt for the purchase of insurance, instead of the proof of insurance
  • Fuzzy/unreadable scan or image

In many states, it is required by law to carry your proof of insurance in the vehicle with you while in operation. If you can’t find your document, check your dashboard, as you may have slipped it into the glove box. If you still can’t find this document, contact your insurance company for a replacement. They may be able to send you one via email. Some insurance companies may also allow you to access or print a proof of insurance card directly from their site.

What is Vehicle Registration and how do I find it?

Vehicle Registration Example

Every state requires, by law, for you to register your vehicle with the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or transportation agency. Your vehicle registration connects your vehicle to you, the owner.

When you move to a new state or purchase a new vehicle, you are giving a short window of time to register your vehicle. The deadline can vary by state, with some requiring paperwork in 10 days and others allowing up to 30.

The first time you register your vehicle, you will receive a license plate and a registration card. Some states may require you to place a sticker on your license plate. When you renew your registration, you will receive an updated registration card and sticker.

Your registration card will generally include the following information:

  • Vehicle owner’s name and address
  • Vehicle year and make
  • Registration renewal dates
  • State name and seal

Please review your registration carefully before submitting to GoShare. Common mistakes we see include:

  • Submitted a temporary registration
  • Applicant not listed on registration
  • Registration card is expired
  • Registration card is for the wrong vehicle
  • Out-of-state registration card (should be issued in the state you live in)
  • Submitted a receipt for the registration, instead of the registration document
  • Fuzzy/unreadable scan or image

If you have a temporary registration, please wait until the final document arrives. It generally takes only a week or two for these to arrive. If you are not listed on the registration, please let us know. We will need one extra document certifying that you have permission to use the vehicle for our platform.

In many states, it is required by law to carry your registration in the vehicle with you while in operation. Your glovebox is a good place to check if you can’t find this document. If you can’t find your document, you will need to request a replacement from your state’s DMV.

What is Driver’s License and how do I find it?

Every state requires, by law, for you to own a valid driver’s license in order to operate your vehicle. Your driver’s license acts as proof that you are qualified to operate a vehicle. A valid driver’s license will generally include the following information:

  • Licensed driver’s name
  • License renewal date

Please review your driver’s license carefully before submitting to GoShare. Common mistakes we see include:

  • Expired license
  • Not submitting the front and the back of the license
  • Fuzzy/unreadable scan or image
