The Paid Sick and Safe Time ordinance is an expansion of a law that was previously in place for food delivery gig drivers. This new ordinance ensures that all app-based workers, including GoShare delivery pros, will now have the opportunity to accrue one day of PSST for every 30 days worked with at least one work-related stop in Seattle. In other words, to qualify for PSST, you must have at least 30 days with at least one project completed each day after January 13th. You must also complete a minimum of one project every 90 days.
Under the ordinance, if you have worked in Seattle at least once in the past 90 calendar days, you will have the ability to use accrued PSST in 24-hour increments for any reason outlined here. This provision aims to provide you with the flexibility to address personal health matters, take care of loved ones, or attend to any safety concerns you may have.
For each day that you utilize PSST, you will be paid the average daily compensation for each calendar day worked in Seattle in the preceding 12 months. To ensure fairness and accuracy, the rate of average compensation will be recalculated every calendar month.
You can roll over 9 PSST days at the end of the calendar year. For example, if you have accumulated 12 PSST days and not used any, 9 will roll over to the next year.
We want to remind you that your safety and well-being are our utmost priority as you deliver essential last mile services to our valued customers. The implementation of the Paid Sick and Safe Time ordinance in Seattle underscores our commitment to providing you with the support you need as part of the GoShare driver community. If you have any further questions or require additional information on the PSST ordinance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly.
