  • Interstate delivery or trucking involves transporting goods across state borders, which subjects carriers to federal regulations in addition to state laws.

Step 6: Submit and receive your USDOT Number.

How Much Does a USDOT Number Cost?

Good news: Applying for a USDOT Number is free.

However, if you also apply for Motor Carrier (MC) Authority (required for for-hire carriers crossing state lines), you’ll need to pay a one-time filing fee.
