Frequently Asked Questions: Occupational Accident Insurance

  • Am I required to have Occupational Accident coverage to use GoShare?
    • Only if you drive in the state of California. It is not currently required if you drive in other states. Our insurance broker, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co, recommends that all delivery professionals consider purchasing either Occupational Accident Insurance or Workers Compensation Insurance to protect you in the unlikely event that you are injured while engaged in a GoShare Project.
  • Am I required to purchase the Occupational Accident coverage facilitated by GoShare?
    • No, your Independent Contractor Agreement with GoShare, Inc. requires that you provide evidence of Workers’ Compensation coverage or an approved Occupational Accident policy with a $1 Million Combined Single Limit. The Occupational Accident policy administered by Gallagher Transportation Services meets the contractual obligations of your Independent Contractor Agreement with GoShare, Inc.. Payments are simplified by deducting the cost from your weekly settlement check.
  • Is this medical or health insurance?
    • No, the Occupational Accident policy is not medical or health insurance. The Occupational Accident policy pays medical and disability benefits for injuries sustained in an accident by you while working under your Independent Contractor Agreement with GoShare, Inc.. Benefits are paid per the schedule of benefits provided to you, subject to the full policy terms, conditions and exclusions.
  • Who is eligible for the Occupational Accident program?
    • If you are a qualified Independent Contractor of GoShare, Inc., and you work in California you are eligible for the program. Simply complete the Gallagher Transportation Occupational Accident Enrollment form and submit it to the terminal. You must be paid by a 1099 to be eligible for the Occupational Accident coverage. In the state of Texas, if you are a fleet driver who has completed the opt out form and are paid by a W2, you may also be eligible for the program.
  • Is this Workers’ Compensation coverage?
    • No. As you acknowledged in your Independent Contractor Agreement with GoShare, Inc., you are an Independent Contractor and as a result, you are not an employee of GoShare, Inc. and not eligible for Workers’ Compensation coverage. If you want Workers’ Compensation coverage for yourself then you will need to purchase your own Workers’ Compensation coverage from an outside third party vendor and provide a certificate of insurance to GoShare, Inc.
